About this work
A flute player sits beneath a willow, eyes half-closed, letting the music lead instead of the eyes. Tran Ha wanted to paint sound — seemingly impossible — by painting the surrender on the player's face.
On silk, every line is as soft as a sustained melody. The painting speaks of immersion: sometimes, to feel fully, we must close our eyes.
